Data Deletion

Effective date: [EFFECTIVE DATE]

Asking us to delete your data

There are three ways to ask Weystack to delete data. Which one to use depends on whether you connected a business account to Weystack or messaged a business that uses it.

1. Remove Weystack from your Facebook settings

If you connected a Facebook Page or Instagram account to Weystack, you can remove our access from Facebook:

  1. Open Facebook and go to Settings & privacy, then Settings.
  2. Open Business integrations.
  3. Select Weystack and choose Remove.

When you do this, Meta sends us a signed deletion request and we:

  • delete the stored access tokens for your Facebook Pages and Instagram accounts;
  • disconnect those channels, so we stop receiving and sending their messages; and
  • give Meta a confirmation code and a link to this page, where you can see that your request was received.

This removes our access to your accounts. It does not close your Weystack account or delete conversations and orders already in your inbox. To delete those as well, use option 3 below.

2. Disconnect channels in the Weystack app

Vendors can disconnect WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook Messenger at any time from their channel settings in the Weystack app. The access tokens for that channel are deleted immediately and no new messages are received from it.

3. Email us

Anyone can ask us to delete their data by emailing [PRIVACY EMAIL] with the subject “Data deletion request”.

If you are a Weystack vendor, send the request from the email address on your account and tell us whether you want your whole account closed and deleted. We delete your account and everything linked to it within 30 days.

If you messaged a business that uses Weystack, that business controls your data, so the quickest route is to ask the business directly. You can also email us with:

  • the name of the business you messaged;
  • the phone number, Instagram username or Facebook name you messaged from; and
  • roughly when you messaged them.

We will pass your request to the business and help it delete your messages, contact details and address. We may ask you to confirm you own the account or number before we act, so that nobody can delete someone else’s data.

What gets deleted, and what we may have to keep

  • Messages, images sent in chat and customer contact details are permanently deleted, including stored image files.
  • Deleted data remains in encrypted backups for up to [BACKUP PURGE WINDOW], and is then gone. Backups are only used to recover from failures.
  • Nigerian law requires some financial records, such as orders and payments, to be kept for [STATUTORY RETENTION PERIOD]. Where that applies we keep only those records, restrict access to them, and delete them when the period ends.
  • Even without a request, message text and images are deleted automatically 12 months after the last message in a conversation.

Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
